Are Dryer Sheets Toxic?

What can you use instead of dryer sheets or laundry softener?

1. Use dryer balls – 6-8 at a time. They will help reduce the drying time of clothes as well.
2. Vinegar and baking soda – reduces static cling and softens laundry (recipe below)

Vinegar & Baking Soda as Fabric Softener

Ingredients

6 cups vinegar
1 cup baking soda
15 drops essential oil (optional but makes your clothes smell good)

Directions

Pour the vinegar into a large bowl. Add your essential oil, if using. I chose to use lavender since that seemed like a nice smelling fabric scent to me. Add your baking soda. When fizz has settled, pour into storage container of choice. Use up to 1 cup (depending on load size) per load. I poured mine right into the regular fabric softener location. Note: Prior to adding the baking soda, the oil sat on top of the vinegar. After pouring in the baking soda and letting it dissolve, the oil no longer sat at the top.

Here are some testimonials from other people on how to keep your laundry soft and reduce static cling without using dryer sheets or laundry softener:

** We use baby washcloths with vinegar and essential oils. I just throw an extra washcloth in the dryer.

** Add a Safety pin to each of the dryer balls. Metal hits the metal in the dryer and discharges the static.

** When I started drying for less time my static problem went away! Over drying clothes causes static.

** Add a drop of doTERRA conditioner to the wool dryer ball. Maybe once a month during the winter. Just about a pea sized amount on each one. After using the dryer balls for awhile the natural oils from the wool get depleted. This works amazingly well to replenish that moisture!!

My poor daughter had a tummy bug last weekend and then today she tested positive for another pathogen common during the winter months 😬 All I know is that I am so grateful to have oils available and ready to use for these situations. They have helped so much, especially for elevated body temperatures and boosting immunity.

I wanted to share the protocol of what I used to help her get better within 24 hours!

24 hours after going to the Dr, she woke up with a normal body temperature, energetic, cheerful and only a slight runny nose.

1. Immune Roller on her spine and the bottoms of her feet every 1-2 hours.
   1. Immune Roller Recipe: 10 drops each of Onguard, Melaleuca, Frankincense, Copaiba and 5 drops Oregano
2. Diffuser right next to her with 3 drops each of oregano, lemongrass, and rosemary
3. Breathe Vapor Stick on Chest (every 2 hours)
4. Deep blue on neck and temples for head pain

6. Peppermint on her neck and shoulders to support a healthy body temperature
7. Epsom Salt Bath (NOT HOT WATER) before bed
